and flowering plants - yes, flowering!!!
We are finally here and in the field working this morning. We can say "finally" as our trip was considerably extended by a two hour delay in Dallas as mechanics worked on our first plane, and then decided to change it out for a second plane - a decision of which WE all approved!!! Of course, that put us driving the 200 mile (191 to be exact) trek through the mountains in the dark. Add that to being up since 3:00 am, and you have the cure for sleeplessness!
Just after we arrived, we were blessed with one of the first storms of the rainy season, bringing us a lullaby of thunder and heavy rainfall! That is a WOW here, knowing that they receive over 100 inches of rain during the season. Oh, to be able to export just one of those “cloudbursts” to Midland, Texas – the deserts would bloom, indeed!
We began our morning with breakfast by Juliana and a visit with her and with Emerson. We planned out our day – which includes preparation for the preschool graduation at 3:00 this afternoon and hopefully a short trip to LOL Orphanage. We are all present and accounted for and ready to hit the ground running – or least walking quickly – it is hot and humid here and we have yet to fully acclimate!
We haven’t had much time for pictures yet, and I'm not sure how some will come out. I am sending what I have first thing and will try to get many more throughout the day so you will be able to experience everything ALMOST first hand!Thank you all so much for your prayers; we felt them last night as we struggled to make the last 50 miles of the trip in. Prayer is absolutely the greatest gift and provision we can receive from you all. We love our church family and appreciate you all very much!
