Tuesday - June 5th

Reruns!

Not really – just another round of children’s videos for the Tuesday morning classes. These were the older children, and we really enjoyed them as they fully engaged in the Focus on the Family series videos we brought to them. In fact, we all liked them so much, our own team members were asking if I had picked out new videos or if these were reruns! You never know where or with whom your ministry is going be!

Lucretia cranked – or should we say nuked – out another bucket of movie popcorn. By the way, the school cook Miss Angelica said it was the best popcorn she had ever had. She said if they got the buttered popcorn, it was mostly grease! So – we even brought something of value to her – really great popcorn!

Lunch was with the kids, so we enjoyed their company and rested a bit. The heat and humidity have just been oppressive – so we relish the opportunity to come in out of it and sit under a fan turned on high for a bit of breeze time.

We are drinking water, water, water, interspersed with Fanta, Fanta, Fanta!!!

…Blast Off!!!
Afternoon brought the great water balloon water launch practice to prepare for our VBS/Activities Day on Saturday. Lucretia, Landan and Brianna switched out places on the launcher to take aim and fire after Landan and Brianna had filled about fifty balloons. They very responsibly tested a number of trial balloons on each other to provide quality assurance to all future participants! I tried to launch a couple of times, but quickly found out the required skills were not among my God-given talents and gifts! HOWEVER, these three guys were red hot on the target and shot water balloons to the far side of the compound! Saturday is going to be some fun. In fact, while we were practicing, some of the students ran out to see what was going on and began to try to be our human targets for each launch! They were great and we honed in on our accuracy! AND…when Miles pulled up in the van after running errands in town, Lucretia, Landan and Brianna all bombarded him with water balloons – which actually met with a welcome thanks for the cooling off!

We spent the afternoon close to home, working on our chapel times to be presented Wednesday morning in teams of two. Miles and Landan, Lucretia and Brianna, and Alex and I paired off to review and prepare. We would each have a section of combined grades for a 30 minute Bible study chapel, so we were looking forward to Wednesday morning. This is our time to share God’s word in a special way and grow the trust and relationships we seek with this group of children.

Evening, dinner, showers, reflections and time for bed. Everyone was especially tired today, it is sack time. Storms are moving in, so we expect thunder, lightning and rain along with our sleep!

Joy cometh in the morning.
Patricia and the Team: Miles, Landan, Brianna, Lucretia and Alex
